one print-one life

Will the world know you made a difference? Will the world remember who you were? Do you ever pause to reflect on what matters to you or how you will be remembered? A question we must be willing to ask ourselves over and over to make sure we are living our life print to its full potential.

You were not meant to be like anyone else. You were not meant to have the same life as anyone else. You were not meant to be replaced by anyone else. You were meant to be nurtured and to create unique connections in this lifetime so your special print will be remembered.

How do we all do this? I am no expert, but I do believe, it requires us all to pause, and reflect. I do believe we are designed as human beings to learn from the shared experiences of each other. I do believe our god given talents are sometimes dormant until the moment we realize that we are NOT in control; rather a higher power is. At that moment, I believe our ability to grow magnifies and doors are opened for us to help others and for others to be helped by us. We can’t be all things. We can’t know all things. We can however, find joy in the connections of family and friends. These connections are critical links that evolve our print for this life we live.

These connections allow us to step outside our comfort zone. These connections allow us to be lifted up when we have self doubt. These connections allow us to motivate each other. These connections allow us to laugh and to remember how blessed we are to live in the USA. I often think of what my own great grandparents did to get to the USA from England and Sweden. It was no easy path. They left family and friends.

My maternal great grandpa was set to be on the Titanic, and his brother was late so he never boarded. So, I always say there is a reason I am late. Sometimes it is ok. Once they arrived in the USA, their last name was changed at Ellis Island, but his finger print could never be changed.

This man, like many led lives full of adventure, with hardship and happiness. This is real life. He is remembered for his laughter, love for playing with all his grandchildren and great grandchildren, ability to connect with animals, love for his Siamese cat, and ability to make us all think he loved us the most. Great Grandma Ben is remembered. He had one print. One life. Plus, he picked an amazing woman to be his wife…. Emma.

May we all carry the grace of Ben in good times and bad. Cheers to my Swedish heritage on my mom’s dads side of the family. I still have the $2 bill he gave me. Grateful for his imprint on my life.
