For the Love of Laughter
Is there anything better than laughing? When you are diagnosed, one would think there is no reason to laugh anymore. You need to laugh more than ever now. Now is the time to find humor in yourself.
I remember the day my nipple died, and fell off my breast sometime after I left a doctor appointment and was wrapped with new bandages following my double mastectomy. I told my friends, I guess the seagulls had lunch somewhere off the side walk when I left the clinic, as clearly I now have no nipple. I had to find some humor, after all…. I spent hours researching nipple sparing to try and save the damn things and now, it was dead, and gone. The nipple lost blood supply and turned into a dried out raisin and detached like a babied umbilical cord. This was just a tad more tragic for me. But…. my girlfriends understood my humor and we could laugh. I had to laugh…. crying just got old.
