The Importance of Friends

I have been blessed with amazing friends in my life. As a sibling with no sisters, my brothers are even some of my best friends and always have been. All three Wyatt kids “love to talk”, so visiting with my brothers has never been a problem even when we are all three in different states. I love to call, and hear their laugh and banter. I am lucky.

My girlfriends are gems in my life. I have enjoyed friendships that go back to elementary school. I have an aunt that is three years older than me, and enough cousins to fill an army, since my mom is one of 11 kids.

When I left for college, I loved the atmosphere of meeting people from everywhere. What a blast we had while making every party and visiting every bar on Water Street in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. We all managed to graduate, and have successful careers. Now, we celebrate thirty years of memories together and our own kids are graduating from college and the circle of life marches on.

Having kids provides the best opportunity to meet more great friends. The Hermantown community was rich with amazing memories with Hawk Hockey and so many trips to state tournaments as a community. Friendships continue long after hockey and the memories made are priceless.

My work career has been serving seniors and I have had the honor of working with some amazing people who give 150% to make seniors lives better. I have loved every minute of it all. Well….. almost every minute of it all. Covid was a challenge of a life time and somehow we managed to staff and get through it together. I treasure my memories along the way with my nursing home and assisted living colleagues who are dear friends. My oldest son has a godmother who I met while interning at Martin Luther Manor in 1991. Friendships are the heart of our life.

Now, I love to see all our friends and neighbors at the lake. It is fun to watch the boats come by, the kayaks around the island and the joy of kids and adults loving the four seasons Minnesota offers. Plus, it is the perfect place to watch a sunset, which is my absolute favorite to see. Nature never disappoints.
